“A Photo Travelogue of Four Hiking Trips Last Summer” –

David Sonner is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College, a retired attorney, and the immediate past president of the University Club of Claremont. Following a bad illness in early 2020, which resulted in severe asthma that lasted for most of the year, he decided to improve his health by losing weight, keeping that weight off, and exercising, which chiefly involved gradually walking more and more each day. After several years of measured progress, the last year was a breakout year for his health, as shown by his ability to do some long father-son walks in our local mountains. Seeing that, his oldest son Paul decided to take him on four hiking trips of a lifetime.

This program will be a photo travelogue of those four father-son hiking trips, which they did in the Summer of 2024. Those trips include hiking from the rim of the Grand Canyon to the Colorado River at the bottom of the canyon, hiking deep into the Tetons, and two hiking trips into the Sierra Nevadas, one featuring a hike to the top of Mt. Whitney (which is the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states) and the other featuring a hike to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite.

This meeting with speaker David Sonner was a presentation at DoubleTree in Claremont.
