“Bhutan — Land of the Thunder Dragon” –
“We spent a week in western Bhutan in October, admiring the mountains, forests, and golden terraces of ripening red rice. We found a fascinating country that is taking a deliberate approach to modernizing a traditional Buddhist farming society while preserving traditions and keeping an eye on sustainability. Bhutan leads the world in forest conservation, is evolving into a constitutional monarchy, and seeks to maintain peaceful relations with its large and powerful neighbors, India and Cha. We will share photographs, anecdotes, and reflections on what we can learn from this Himalayan country of 800,000.”
