Speaker Fred DeMetz, Sr., President of Sound Path Technologies

Learn from an expert about a subject that is new to most of us. Fred DeMetz earned BS and MS degrees in engineering and physics from Louisiana State University and a PhD in mechanical engineering an acoustics from the Catholic University of America. He worked for 20 years as a physicist in Navy Research Laboratories and 25 years in companies in California and Texas, designing sonar and seismic sensor systems. He directed system validation testing and sea trials at industry and Navy test facilities, and on US nuclear submarines and US and British aircraft carriers. Most recently, he founded Sound Path Technologies, which provides consulting services and prototype design and testing in acoustics for industry and Navy contractors.

 July 17 – “Prehistoric Rock Paintings of Zimbabwe: Diana’s Vow, Facts and Fantasies”

Speaker – Anne Stoll, anthropologist

Anne Stoll and her husband George travel around the world, using digital equipment to photograph the faded paint of prehistoric art and bring it to life for modern viewers and researchers. In 2015 they returned from their third trip to Zimbabwe, having photo-documented 42 prehistoric painted sites there. Anne has an MA in anthropology, and enjoyed a professional career as a field director, writer, instructor, and lecturer in archaeology and anthropology, and later as cultural resources staff at Statistical Research in Redlands, where she worked on archaeological jobs for private and government clients. Since retirement, she has been presenting and publishing papers on sites in Africa, Mexico and Brazil.

July 24 – “The Rise, the Glory, and the Decline of the Big Bands

Speaker – Richard Snyder, DTM, teacher

Richard Sndyer has many lifelong interests, including big bands and swing music. He has been a teacher for all age levels of students for 27 years, currently at Pomona High School where he works with students who have autism. He has extensive experience and leadership with Toastmasters International and has spoken to many groups. He was International Director of Toastmasters from 2007 to 2009.

Speaker – Kelly Kidwell, CEO, Pacific Advisors

It’s always important to know how to handle your money, especially in uncertain times. Come learn from a financial expert. Kelly Kidwell founded Pacific Advisors in 1993, which specializes in serving the small business community. The company has grown to more than 200 staff, 10,000 clients, and 60,000 policyholders. Kelly has many professional certifications, including CFP. He is a Claremont resident, involved with several philanthropic organizations, and a frequent lecturer to many organizations.
