“Freedom: Clear Thinking and Inspiration from 5,000 Years of Greek History” –

Ev Vallianatos’s presentation will be about his new
book, Freedom: Clear Thinking and Inspiration from
5,000 Years of Greek History (Universal Publishers,
2025). He presents a global overview of what the
Greeks did well and what they did not. He draws
implications from this history to our times in the
twenty-first century in the West, which was founded on
the virtues of Greek science and civilization.
Ev studied Greek history and zoology at the University
of Illinois; earned a Ph.D. in history from the
University of Wisconsin and did postdoctoral studies in
the history of science at Harvard. He worked on Capitol
Hill and the US Environmental Protection Agency,
taught at several universities, and authored hundreds of
articles and several books.
