November 6 – “Antiques Road Show with Zoe TeBeau”
Speaker – Zoe TeBeau, certified appraiser
Once again Zoe TeBeau brings her own version of the “Antiques Road Show” to the University Club. This event was great fun the last three years. You are invited to bring one item to be informally appraised. It can be a historic heirloom or just an interesting object from your home. Watch and learn as Ms. TeBeau uses her expertise and years of experience and knowledge to help us evaluate our prized possessions. If your item is big, heavy, or too delicate to handle, take a picture of it with your phone. She will use the phone image to evaluate it.
As an independent accredited appraiser and a member of International Society of Appraisers (ISA), Ms. TeBeau is required to remain continually updated and tested in appraisal knowledge and must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics. The designation of ISA is assurance that appraisal reports meet the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, the only standard for appraisals, which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and The Appraisal Foundation.

November 27 – “The Seven Lost Ranchos of Our Inland Valley”
Speaker – Bob Smith, retired professor, author, illustrator and musician
Our own multi-talented University Club member Bob Smith will present a program about Inland Valley history. He will define the geographic area and describe the Mexican land grants – names we will recognize from our commuting throughout the valley. He will tell us about life in the valley between the mission and citrus periods (1820s through 1850s) and the characters involved. In an earlier program to the club, Bob presented his first published book of local history, Redefining the Inland Valley. He has now written and illustrated a new book, The Seven Lost Ranchos of Our Inland Valley. Bob guarantees that everyone in the audience will learn at least one new fact about Inland Valley history.
Bob received his BA at Pomona College and his MFA at CGU, and taught art at Chaffey College for 40 years. His work has been in solo art shows throughout the valley. He was named Artist of the Year by the Ontario Museum of History and Art and by the Chaffey Community Art Association and Museum. Bob has created architectural renderings for buildings throughout the valley, including at Cal Poly Pomona and CGU. He has also published calendars with his pen and ink renderings of historic buildings.
