“Problems with the Public Education System and the Middle Tree Alternative

Presenter – Joseph Atman

Presenter: Joseph Atman, Executive Director of Middle Tree

Public schools often grapple with challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, a one size-fits-all approach to learning, and an underemphasis on critical thinking and creativity. These issues can leave students feeling disconnected, underserved, and ill prepared for the complexities of the modern world. Middle Tree, a nonprofit learning and community center, is a pioneering educational initiative that promotes personalized learning experiences, with a curriculum that adapts to each student’s unique needs and interests. Bring your questions about learning and educational systems.

Joseph Atman is the founder and executive director of Middle Tree. He earned an MA from Hofstra University and a PhD from Claremont Graduate University. Joseph joined the University Club in 2021 during the pandemic. He has written several books and recorded music with Sunset Records.
