June 10– “Not Long Ago . . . ”

Speaker – The Rev. Dr. Ronald T. Evans, retired theological scholar

“Not Long Ago . . .” is the title of a selection of short stories to be given voice when New England native and current Pilgrim Place resident Ron Evans spins a few yarns and tells some not too tall tales. “But what will Ron talk about?” someone asked. “I’m not always sure,” said another, “but his storytelling style tends toward tales that invite consideration of new possibilities for old ideas and gives hints of eternal truths in unresolved thoughts. And even when he doesn’t make any sense, he does so with a light touch and poetic grace.” Ron Evans has taught church history and preaching at Yale, been senior minister of United Church of Christ congregations, and worked with the International YMCA in East Africa, the Middle East, and Geneva.
